Strength Seen in CoreWeave (CRWV): Can Its 5.9% Jump Turn into More Strength?

Read MoreHide Full Article

CoreWeave (CRWV - Free Report) shares soared 5.9% in the last trading session to close at $69.69. The move was backed by solid volume with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This compares to the stock's 21.1% loss over the past four weeks.

The increase in share price can be attributed to a rebound in investor sentiment after reports of Nvidia offering reassurance about the company's financial position. The gain came after a steep sell-off driven by concerns over CoreWeave's debt and financing costs. CoreWeave has substantial debt and heavy capital-spending requirements, leaving it exposed to higher borrowing costs.

However, its approximately $104 billion revenue backlog provides substantial visibility, although converting contracts into profitable cash flow remains critical. Recently, the company expanded in India with a 240 MW AI data center deal, betting on advanced NVIDIA infrastructure and rising AI demand to fuel growth through a collaboration with AdaniConneX at its Taloja campus in Navi Mumbai.

A key aspect of the announcement is its plan to deploy the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Platform. In October, CRWV expanded beyond GPUs with NVIDIA Vera and Vera Rubin, targeting agentic AI and inference workloads while deepening its infrastructure strategy. Deploying next-generation NVIDIA infrastructure in India could give customers access to advanced AI computing without requiring them to make massive upfront infrastructure investments.

Moreover, CoreWeave raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to $35 billion–$39 billion, highlighting its substantial funding needs. High debt costs, dependence on major customers and the risk of AI equipment becoming outdated could weigh on returns.

This cloud computing company is expected to post quarterly loss of $1.16 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -1350%. Revenues are expected to be $3.54 billion, up 159.3% from the year-ago quarter.

Earnings and revenue growth expectations certainly give a good sense of the potential strength in a stock, but empirical research shows that trends in earnings estimate revisions are strongly correlated with near-term stock price movements.

For CoreWeave, the consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised marginally lower over the last 30 days to the current level. And a negative trend in earnings estimate revisions doesn't usually translate into price appreciation. So, make sure to keep an eye on CRWV going forward to see if this recent jump can turn into more strength down the road.
